How to write blog description for better SEO. I have been struggling with this problem for more than a week. But as you can see now, my blog’s description has changed. It has affected my traffic a bit, but you can say its a long term investment. Before their was no use of keyword beside my blog title. I was not even using keyword in my description. I just thought that no one is going to search my blog address.

But my views changed when I searched google for make money online. I saw a blog named carlocab. Its was the home page and without using any keyword in his domain name, he is ranking number 1 for most competitive word make money online. I just scanned its meta description and keyword tags. But the most impressive part was, using keyword beside domain name. The same is with copyblogger, problogger and most of the other blogs except mine. But now I have corrected my mistakes.

So get started with your long term investment. You have to really word hard. 5 minutes for research and 1 minute to implement, its just so hard. But don’t we need any keywords. I think you don’t need to use them, since Google have already told that they don’t care for key-words. But if you want bing and yahoo optimization, then you have to include them. Just go and signup for free adwords account. Don’t setup any campaign and move to keyword suggestion tool. Now take a rough look at your blog and see, which category is best for it. For example my blog is based on SEO, Blogging tips, Money making and web designing. So I chose my category as Internet. See the example below

Next thing is to look at your posts. See the frequency of post your produce regarding any particular topic. For example I usually produce posts on SEO and Money making. So my slag ( I am using word slag because it means by-product ) is best as SEO blogging tips to make money online. But then I also post tips and reviews on wordpress themes, plugin and web-hosting so I added them also ( remember its not your description tag ). So what I do is to create a sentence without adding any stop words ( What is stop word ? ). You can use semicolons, but don’t use full stop every time. Create a sentence with maximum of 150 words including almost all your important keywords.

Now you have to put these descriptions and keywords in your theme, so how to do it. If you are using wordpress then I will suggest to use wordpress seo by yoast ( click for full setup guide ). It has custom options to put description and keywords in your page.

Use Top Blogs For you Benefits : The top ranking blogs are well established and have well written meta descriptions and keywords. You can view their source to see, how they have written them. You can use free tools like Traffic Travis and opensiteexplorer to check the backlinks these top ranking blogs are getting. Like this you can follow the same steps and can even advance further more.
