Tips to prevent content Theft. Content theft is one of the biggest problem faced by most of the bloggers. Google has many policies to prevent content theft. Content theft is spam work or illegal work. We bloggers spend hours collecting information and serving them on our blog infront of our subscribers and visitors. But most of our work are stolen by bloody spammers and those bloggers who never rank on search engine just because they are fools, but many of them rank even higher than the blog which was the original publisher.
( In order to prevent such mistakes Google have developed Google panda and Google penguin ).
So how do we prevent our articles for scrapers.
If you are using wordpress or joomla then their are lots of plugins developed for you to prevent content theft. Or if you are on any different platform then their are many free services to protect your content or to give you direct credits.
PLUGINS :
- DMCA Protection Badge : This plugin add the DMCA consideration, which warns the spammer from copying the content. You can choice from different locations to add the badge. You can download it from wordpress.org
- Hotlink Protection : This plugin helps prevent common visitors and spammers from scraping the images hosted on your blog from copying. Image hotlinking not only increases the server load on your hosting services, but will also cause your blog to load slowly. The profitable think is that you may get the credit link ( usually not ).
- WP Copyright Protection : This plugin is the simplest and the most effective one. This plugin doesn’t allows anyone to right click on your blog, so they can’t scrap your content nor they will be able to copy your images. But it doesn’t prevent content theft from feed scrappers.
- RSS Footer : This plugin allows you to modify your footer as per your need. You can add direct linkback to your site, author profile or post page. The linkback remains even after scraping the content so you get credit for your work and also dofollw links and may be some traffic.
PINGING PLUGIN :
- WordPress Ping Optimizer : This plugin helps you to optimize your your pings. Pinging is commonly used by bloggers and web service to notify search engines that you have published a content and you are the legal author of that content. So even if the scrappers and spammers copy your content, search engines know that you are the first of that content and they will credit you only.
ONLINE SERVICES :
PING-O-MATIC : This is the free online pinging service by wordpressfoundation, which is owned by automatic. This service is very easy to use and can submit pings to total twenty different pinging sites.
PINGOAT : It is another pinging service but inorder to use this service you have to register to their site. Subscription is free and then you can ping to lots of pinging sites and this will surely increase your service.
